The head coach of Rwanda’s national football team, Adel Amrouche, has officially released his final 24-man squad ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against Nigeria and Zimbabwe.
Last week, Amrouche had announced a 27-man provisional squad, but three players — Claude Smith Kayinbanda, Djabilu Ishimwe, and David Niyo — did not make the final list.
The Amavubi Stars kicked off their preparations for the qualifiers on Monday. On Tuesday morning, 20 players departed Kigali International Airport for Lagos, with plans to connect to Uyo later the same day.
Meanwhile, Phanuel Kavita, Bonheur Mugisha, Jojea Kwizera, and Clement Buhake will link up with the rest of the squad directly in Uyo.
Currently, Rwanda sits in second place in Group C with eight points from six matches. Their next big test comes on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where they will take on the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a matchday seven clash.
This encounter is expected to be one of the most decisive games in Group C, as both sides are pushing for a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifier.
