Paris, France – In a historic show of solidarity, French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that 26 countries have pledged military and security support to Ukraine as part of ongoing international efforts to stabilize the region.
The announcement came during a press briefing at the Coalition of the Willing Summit, held at the Élysée Palace in Paris on Thursday. According to Macron, the coalition is preparing to send troops, naval fleets, and air support to Ukraine once a ceasefire agreement with Russia is reached.
“We now have 26 nations ready to step in, either with troops on the ground, military presence at sea, or in the air — all aimed at ensuring Ukraine’s long-term security,” Macron stated.
The French leader also confirmed that Europe and the United States are working on a new round of sanctions against Russia, widely considered the aggressor in the 42-month conflict. These measures are expected to tighten economic and diplomatic pressure on Moscow in the coming days.
Thursday’s summit did not end in Paris alone. Following the session, Macron and other leaders joined a video conference with former U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky welcomed the coalition’s pledge, describing it as a long-awaited breakthrough.
“For the first time in a long time, this is a concrete step from our allies. Ukraine is grateful for this commitment,” Zelensky told reporters.
The move signals a significant shift in Europe’s security strategy, with a strong emphasis on post-war guarantees and international cooperation. While challenges remain, the coalition’s stance sends a clear message of unity against aggression and support for Ukraine’s sovereignty.
