Nigerian football icon Asisat Oshoala is taking on a new challenge in her career as she seals a move to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Arabia Professional Women’s Football League.

The 30-year-old forward makes the switch from Bay FC in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), just months after joining the American club from Spanish giants FC Barcelona Femeni in February 2024.

According to reports from The Athletic, Oshoala arrived in Riyadh on Monday where she successfully completed her medical tests before finalizing the deal.

Her final outing for Bay FC came over the weekend in a 3–2 home loss to Washington Spirit, marking the end of a short but eventful spell in the United States.

This move sees Oshoala join a growing list of Nigerian talents already competing in Saudi Arabia, including Ashleigh Plumptre, Francisca Ordega, Rita Chikwelu, and Chinonyerem Macleans. Together, they continue to fly the Nigerian flag high while contributing to the rapid growth of women’s football in the Middle East.

With her vast experience, incredible scoring ability, and proven leadership on and off the pitch, Oshoala’s arrival at Al-Hilal is expected to give the Saudi women’s league even more global recognition.
