In a major political development, Hon. Nkemkanma Kama, the lawmaker representing Ohaozara, Onicha, and Ivo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the Labour Party (LP).
Kama made his decision known through a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of Amaze Ward, Ishiagu Community, Ivo Local Government Area.
According to the lawmaker, his exit from the party came after holding extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and well-wishers. He explained that the decision was carefully considered and taken in the interest of his constituents.
“I have thought deeply about this step, and I believe it is necessary for the greater good of my people,” Kama stated.
The federal lawmaker, who secured his seat in the 2023 general elections under the Labour Party platform, expressed appreciation to the party’s leadership and supporters, particularly in Abia State, for their unwavering support during his political journey.
“I remain grateful to the Labour Party for giving me the opportunity to contest and emerge victorious in the last general election,” he noted.
While Kama did not reveal his next political destination, speculations suggest that he may be heading towards the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This move comes amid the internal leadership crisis that has recently hit the Labour Party, forcing several stakeholders and members to defect to other political platforms.
