In a move to prepare Nigeria for the global shift towards electric mobility, the Youth In Parliament Forum (YIPF) has partnered with CAWIN Mobility Limited to provide free training for 2,000 young Nigerians in electric vehicle (EV) repairs and technology.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two organizations was signed in Abuja, signaling a strong commitment to youth empowerment, sustainable mobility, and green technology adoption.
Why This Matters
Electric vehicles are steadily transforming the global automotive industry. With countries like China already leading an EV-driven industrial revolution, Nigeria is positioning itself to avoid being left behind. The training program is designed to:
-
Equip young people with hands-on skills in EV diagnostics, battery technology, and repair.
-
Create job opportunities in workshops, service centers, and garages across the country.
-
Build a pipeline of young engineers and innovators who can shape Nigeria’s EV industry.
Voices from the Partnership
Ayodeji Alao Akala, Chairman of YIPF, emphasized that the program is about preparing Nigeria’s automotive market for the future:
“We’re paving a path for the future because the world is shifting to electric cars due to climate concerns and carbon emissions.”
Wayne Ji, Managing Director and CEO of CAWIN Mobility Limited, described the MoU as more than symbolic:
We will train 1,000 skilled technicians to work in garages and service centers, and 1,000 engineers in collaboration with universities. This is about more than repairs — it’s about research, design, software, and long-term EV industry development.”
Tony Nwulu, Director General of YIPF, highlighted the national impact:
“This partnership is about creating opportunities. With EVs entering Nigeria, one of the biggest challenges will be having skilled hands for maintenance. By preparing now, we ensure Nigeria is ready.”
What Participants Will Learn
The training program will cover:
-
EV diagnostics and maintenance
-
Battery management systems
-
Repair and service techniques
-
Research and design fundamentals
-
Software integration and long-term EV development
Graduates will not only be employable in workshops but also contribute to manufacturing, research labs, and innovation hubs in Nigeria’s evolving green economy.
Final Thoughts
At Jamflash, we believe initiatives like this are key to Nigeria’s economic future. By combining youth empowerment with sustainable technology, YIPF and CAWIN Mobility are setting the stage for job creation, climate action, and industrial innovation.
The trained 2,000 youths will form the backbone of Nigeria’s EV workforce, ensuring the country doesn’t just consume green technology but also contributes to its growth and development.
