Chelsea have confirmed their official squad for the 2025/26 Premier League season, and it comes with a few surprises. Despite being dropped from the Champions League squad earlier this month, Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi have both been included in the domestic league list.
Head coach Enzo Maresca had initially moved the pair into his so-called “bomb squad” – players considered surplus to requirements. This decision made many believe that they would also miss out on the Premier League campaign. However, their inclusion suggests they may still have a role to play in Chelsea’s domestic season.
Interestingly, Chelsea submitted just 19 senior players in their Premier League list, fewer than the maximum 25 allowed, highlighting the club’s reliance on young talents and U21 players.

Chelsea begin their Premier League weekend action against Brentford on Saturday. With Sterling and Disasi surprisingly reinstated, all eyes will be on whether Maresca integrates them back into his first-team plans—or if their inclusion is simply a matter of squad depth.
