A heartbreaking incident has left students and residents of Jalingo in shock as a 100-level student of Taraba State University (TSU) was discovered dead in her boyfriend’s apartment.
The deceased, identified as Comfort Jimtop, was a Mass Communication student from Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State. Her lifeless body was reportedly found on Friday afternoon, lying on a bed with empty bottles of alcohol beside her.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragedy occurred in a compound where about 15 tenants, including her boyfriend, lived. In a strange twist, all the occupants reportedly abandoned the house immediately after Comfort’s body was discovered.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Taraba State, ASP Leshen James, revealed that efforts are ongoing to track down the boyfriend, identified as Emmanuel Shata, along with the other fleeing tenants.
“When our men arrived at the residence, nobody was found. The boyfriend and other tenants had abandoned the house,” James explained.
The PPRO further assured the public that investigations have already commenced to uncover the true cause of Comfort’s death.
“We are working hard to locate the boyfriend and the fleeing tenants. A thorough investigation will be carried out to determine what happened,” he added.
The incident has raised serious concerns within the university community and beyond, with many calling for justice and a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Comfort’s untimely death.
