Galatasaray head coach, Okan Buruk, has provided clarity on the injury situation of star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of the Turkish giants’ away UEFA Champions League encounter with Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday.
The Nigerian forward is currently nursing an ankle ligament injury, which he picked up while representing the Super Eagles in their international fixture against Rwanda last weekend.
Due to the setback, the 26-year-old was absent in Galatasaray’s 2-0 Super Lig victory over Eyüpspor at the Eyüp Stadyumu on Saturday. Goals from Mauro Icardi and Yunus Akgün sealed all three points for Buruk’s men, but Osimhen’s absence was noticeably felt in attack.
Speaking after the match, Buruk addressed questions about the striker’s condition. He revealed that while the medical team is monitoring Osimhen closely, a final decision on his availability for the Frankfurt game will be made in the coming days.
“Osimhen’s condition will be clear in a few days. He still feels some pain, but we will see if he can play against Frankfurt,” Buruk said in his post-match interview.
The update will come as a relief for Galatasaray fans, who are eager to see the Nigerian international back in action as the club looks to strengthen its European campaign.
For now, supporters will have to wait and see whether Osimhen makes the trip to Germany or continues his recovery on the sidelines.
