The Imo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu, a former state legislator who represented the Okigwe State Constituency.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Henry Okoye, the Command acknowledged the existence of a viral video showing the ex-lawmaker in captivity. The suspects are believed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
According to Okoye, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has swiftly mobilized the command’s tactical units in collaboration with other security agencies. Their mission is clear — to rescue Ogbu unharmed and bring the culprits to justice.
The police also confirmed that a full-scale investigation is ongoing to track down those behind the abduction, which occurred in Onuimo Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
In the official release, the Command called on residents of Imo State to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of the rescue mission. Members of the public with any useful information are encouraged to reach the Imo Police Command via 0803 477 3600 or report directly to the nearest police station.
The authorities further assured citizens that the rescue of Hon. Ngozi Ogbu remains a top priority and that the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law once apprehended.
