The Special Adviser to the Governor of Ebonyi State on Inter-Party Affairs, Mr. Sunday Nwanbam, has reaffirmed that the administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru maintains a cordial and inclusive relationship with all political parties in the state.
He made this known while reacting to allegations that members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) were attacked during a meeting at the People’s Club, Abakaliki. Nwanbam dismissed the report as inaccurate and misleading, stressing that the government does not engage in witch-hunting opposition members.
“No ADC member was attacked or arrested by any government official or security operative. Ebonyi is enjoying political stability, and the Governor remains committed to peace,” he stated.
Inclusive Governance and Peaceful Politics
According to Nwanbam, Ebonyi State currently has 17 registered political parties recognized by INEC, all of which are cooperating peacefully under the umbrella body, Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC).
He explained that Governor Nwifuru’s administration does not discriminate based on party affiliation, noting that all political parties have equal access to government support and opportunities.
“Elections have come and gone, and we now have one Governor who is serving all Ebonyi people. Whether you are APC, PDP, Labour Party, or ADC, the government is committed to protecting your interests,” Nwanbam said.
Call for Peaceful Political Engagement
The Special Adviser further urged political parties to always notify relevant authorities before holding meetings, emphasizing the importance of security and proper coordination.
He reiterated that Ebonyi State is not hostile to opposition, but rather encourages peaceful political activities as part of Nigeria’s democratic process.
“Government has no business with your meetings. Just notify the right people and involve security to ensure peace. Ebonyi does not want political crisis,” he added.
Bottom Line
The Ebonyi State Government continues to push for unity, peace, and inclusive governance, stressing that allegations of political intimidation are baseless. The administration of Governor Francis Nwifuru remains focused on ensuring stability, development, and fairness for all political actors in the state.
