The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger State has chosen Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu as its new state chairman following a highly competitive election.

Halidu emerged victorious with 1,289 votes, narrowly defeating his closest rival, Yahaya Abdullahi (Ability), who polled 1,260 votes.

    Other elected officials include:

    • Hadi Kuta – State Secretary

    • Mrs. Salomi Ndakosu – Woman Leader, with 1,373 votes, defeating Mrs. Ramotu Jibrin who secured 590 votes

In his acceptance speech, Chairman Halidu called for unity among members, stressing that rebuilding the PDP in Niger State requires a collective effort. He assured party loyalists of his commitment to restoring the party’s prominence, adding that he is confident in PDP’s ability to challenge the ruling party in 2027.

He further urged members to begin working towards victory in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November, noting that it would serve as a stepping stone for greater electoral success.

With this election, the PDP in Niger State has entered a new chapter, as stakeholders rally behind Halidu’s leadership and vision.
