Rivers United have officially progressed to the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League after edging out Les Aigles of DR Congo with a 1-0 aggregate scoreline. The decisive clash took place on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where the Nigerian side gave their fans plenty to cheer about.

Despite dominating much of the early play, Rivers United had to stay patient. The breakthrough finally came just before halftime when Stephen Manyo smashed home from inside the box, giving the Pride of Rivers a deserved lead.

From that point, Finidi George’s men held firm, managing the game well and ensuring their spot in the next stage of the prestigious continental competition.

    What’s Next for Rivers United?

With this result, the Port Harcourt-based club sealed a 1-0 aggregate victory and now set their sights on their next challenge. They will face Black Bulls of Mozambique, the reigning Mozambican champions, in the second qualifying round.

This fixture promises to be an exciting battle as both teams look to continue their journey toward the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

    Nigeria’s Other Representatives

Meanwhile, Remo Stars, Nigeria’s other CAF Champions League contenders, are also gearing up for a tough test. They will lock horns with South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, one of the tournament’s most consistent performers in recent years.
