In a significant blow to organized crime, the Osun State Police Command has announced the arrest of twelve suspected notorious cult members. The operation, which spanned several locations across the state, led to the recovery of a cache of dangerous items, signaling a robust and intensified Osun State Police Crackdown on criminal activities.

The breakthrough was disclosed in a statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi. He attributed the success to the strategic directives of the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who has made curbing cultism and violent crime a top priority.

The Faces of the Accused: A List of Suspects

The police have named the twelve individuals apprehended in the coordinated raids. The list includes:

    • Dolapo Abioye, 27

    • Olaoye Tunde, 26

    • Olanrewaju Emmanuel, 24

    • Ganiyu Saheed, 25

    • Ashifat Ishaq, 25

    • Ayoola Sodiq, 26

    • Oluwasegun Michael, 26

    • Okupe Boluwatife, 20

    • Kilako Ismail Damilare, 22 (aka ‘Killer’)

Recovered Exhibits: The Tools of Crime

The haul of items recovered from the suspects paints a clear picture of the threat they posed to the community. The exhibits include:

    • One Camry Spider car (Registration: KJA 210 JM)

    • One Muscle Camry car (Registration: GGE 961 JA)

    • An unregistered black Lady motorcycle

    • Three locally made cut-to-size pistols

    • Seven live cartridges

    • A UTC axe

    • Several criminal charms

A Timeline of the Police Operations

The arrests were not a single event but the result of a series of targeted operations over days.

    1. The Iree Invasion (October 13, 2025)
The first operation was triggered by a distress call from the Kajogbola Area in Iree town. Reports indicated that armed cultists had invaded the neighborhood, wielding cutlasses and demanding money from residents. During this brazen attack, a local pharmacist suffered head injuries. Police operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit and Iree Division responded swiftly, arresting five suspects at the scene. Their confession of being members of the Eiye Confraternity led to a follow-up raid on a hotel in Iree, where four more suspects were apprehended.

    2. The Vigilante Apprehension in Iragbiji (October 14, 2025)
In a related development, vigilant members of the Oja-Oba Market Square vigilante group in Iragbiji captured two young men, later identified as Oluwasegun Michael and Okupe Boluwatife. A search revealed a locally made pistol loaded with a live cartridge and a UTC axe in their possession. The duo confessed to being Eiye cult members who had fled Iree to escape the ongoing police crackdown.

    3. The Osogbo Showdown (October 19, 2025)
Acting on intelligence from residents of the Akede Area, Oke Baale, Osogbo, who reported armed hoodlums terrorizing the area, the Anti-Cultism Unit moved in. One suspect, Kilako Ismail Damilare, popularly known by the chilling alias “Killer,” was arrested, and exhibits were recovered while other gang members managed to escape.

    What Happens Next?

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that all twelve suspects are currently in custody. They will be formally charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

This series of successful operations demonstrates a clear commitment to restoring peace and security. It serves as a strong warning to criminal elements that the state is no safe haven for their activities, while reassuring law-abiding citizens that their safety is being taken seriously.
