The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has appealed to residents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise across the state.
Speaking during a Sunday service at Salvation Ministries in Aba, Otti emphasized that every eligible voter has a responsibility to shape the future of governance through the ballot.
“If you fail to vote or shy away from voting in an election, you have indirectly voted for the wrong person,” Governor Otti said.
He expressed gratitude to members of Salvation Ministries and residents of Abia for their continuous support of his administration, urging them to translate that support into meaningful action during elections.
Wabara Calls for Wider Sensitization
In a similar development, former Senate President and current PDP Board of Trustees Chairman, Adolphus Wabara, also encouraged people across the South East to take the registration seriously.
Wabara noted that the current registration numbers in the region are very low and advised political and community leaders to embark on sensitization campaigns that would educate and encourage people to register.
He further pushed for electoral reforms, particularly the compulsory electronic transmission of results before the 2027 elections, stressing that such reforms would restore voter confidence and strengthen Nigeria’s democratic system.
Why This Matters
The call from both leaders highlights the importance of active civic engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections. With electoral reforms on the horizon, widespread participation in the voters registration process will be a decisive factor in shaping fair representation for the South East and Nigeria at large.
