APC Says It Will Speak on Rivers State Impeachment Crisis at the Right Time
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it will make its position known on the political crisis in Rivers State when the time is right. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated this while speaking about the impeachment move against Governor Sim Fubara.
Morka assured the public that the APC is not disconnected from the events in the state. He explained that the party is following the situation closely but will only share its official stance when appropriate.
The Rivers State House of Assembly recently began an impeachment process against Governor Fubara. The move is linked to allegations of mismanagement of funds. It is also seen as part of a larger struggle for political control in the state between Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
During an interview on TVC’s Beyond Headlines, Morka was asked about the party’s silence on the matter. He replied, “The fact that I’m not willing to make a comment on your show does not mean that the APC is disengaged in Rivers State.”
He described the APC as a responsible political party that believes in handling issues maturely. “Our job is to govern our party maturely. When it’s time to share our positions or decisions on discussions, be rest assured that I will come here and share it boldly,” Morka added.
He also noted that certain processes must be allowed to run their course before the party can make a definitive statement. “But you know there are processes that must be enabled to do their job so that at the end of the day, we call it right,” he said.
The statement from the APC spokesman suggests that the party is watching the situation carefully and will speak only after internal consultations and when it feels the timing is correct. For now, the public will have to wait for the APC to break its silence on the Rivers State impeachment crisis.
