APGA Hails Soludo’s Landmark Victory: A Clear Mandate from Anambra People

On November  8,  2025, a watershed moment unfolded in Anambra State’s political landscape as Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo secured an emphatic win — and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) is taking note. In its official press release, the party celebrates what it describes as “a clear, unequivocal and overwhelming mandate” from the people of Anambra.

According to APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, Soludo’s win reflects broad‑based support: 73 % of the total votes cast and victories in 98 % of the 326 electoral wards across the state. The numbers, he says, speak to the people’s trust in Soludo’s visionary leadership, commitment to reforms, and determination to build a liveable and prosperous homeland.

Opara frames the result not simply as an electoral win, but as a referendum on performance and progressive governance. He places APGA at the centre of Anambra’s development aspirations — as “the true political identity of Ndi Igbo and the custodian of Anambra’s development aspirations.”

The party also extends thanks to key institutions that contributed to the election’s credibility:

    • The party lauds the professionalism and vigilance of the security agencies whose presence ensured a peaceful, orderly process.

    • It also expresses profound appreciation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for delivering a transparent and credible election that it says truly reflects the will of the people.

    • In addition, APGA thanks the Bola A. Tinubu‑led federal government for creating an environment of peace and fairness throughout the election cycle.

Amid the celebration, the party pauses to mourn one of its own: Mr. Francis Onyeka Ibe, a councillor in Owerre‑Ezukala (Orumba South Council) and APGA member, who was tragically shot dead by gunmen shortly after casting his vote.

Looking ahead to Soludo’s second term, APGA re‑affirms its commitment to “leadership that works for all.” The party emphasises priorities such as institution‑building, deepening democracy, expanding economic opportunities, and safeguarding the future of every Anambra son and daughter. APGA concludes that this victory marks a new chapter, one in which Anambra will strive to become “liveable, prosperous, globally competitive and exemplary in governance.”

Why this matters for Anambra and beyond

    • Broad voter mandate: Winning across 98 % of wards signals a very deep level of grassroots support — an important asset for governance legitimacy.

    • Governance expectations: With the win framed as a referendum on performance, Soludo enters the next term with heightened expectations to deliver.

    • Political identity: APGA underscores its alignment with Igbo aspirations and regional identity, which might shape how the next phase of governance is positioned.

    • Institutional trust: The praise for security agencies and INEC suggests an acknowledgement of strengthening electoral processes — a positive sign for democratic norms.

    • Challenges ahead: With a strong mandate comes responsibility. Translating victory into tangible improvements in infrastructure, economy, and public services will be the critical test.
