The Bauchi State government has officially dismissed Mr. Emos Joshua, a Principal Assistant Education Officer at Government College, Azare, following allegations of sexual harassment.

This decision was announced in Bauchi on Thursday by Mr. Saleh Umar, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission. According to him, the dismissal was approved during the commission’s 32nd plenary session held on September 11.

Umar emphasized that the dismissed officer’s conduct violated Rule 0327 (xxviii and xxix) of the Bauchi State Public Service Rules, which clearly prohibits sexual harassment in the workplace.

“The disciplinary action was taken after all general disciplinary procedures, as outlined in Rule 0317 of the Public Service Rules, had been fully exhausted,” Umar explained.

Speaking further, the commission’s chairman, Dr. Ibrahim Muhammad, confirmed that the disciplinary proceedings were carried out in strict compliance with established regulations. He stressed that the commission remains committed to fairness, transparency, and due process in handling staff matters.

“The decision taken against the officer was not meant to be punitive but rather to maintain discipline and integrity within the civil service,” Dr. Muhammad noted.

He added that the measure would serve as a reminder to all public servants that professionalism and adherence to regulations are essential for a transparent and accountable government workforce.

Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission also announced additional staff changes. Two officers were promoted to Acting Deputy Director positions (Grade Level 16), while 80 nursing officers received well-deserved promotions to their next ranks.

This move, according to the commission, reflects its ongoing commitment to ensuring accountability while also rewarding dedication and professionalism in the public sector.
