The UEFA Champions League Matchday 2 fixtures lived up to the hype on Wednesday night, bringing thrilling encounters, late goals, and standout performances across Europe.

At Anfield, Liverpool needed a late moment of magic from captain Virgil van Dijk, whose towering header sealed a 3-2 victory against a determined Atletico Madrid. The Premier League giants had surged ahead through early strikes from Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, but Atletico hit back as Marcos Llorente netted twice to level the score. Van Dijk’s winner ensured Liverpool grabbed all three points in dramatic fashion.

In Germany, Bayern Munich showcased their class with a 3-1 win over Chelsea. Star striker Harry Kane was the difference-maker, scoring twice to keep Vincent Kompany’s men in control, further cementing Bayern’s dominance on home soil.

Meanwhile, defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) delivered a commanding performance, cruising past Atalanta with a 3-0 victory. Their attacking brilliance left no room for a comeback, reminding Europe why they remain favorites.

Elsewhere, debutants Pafo and Bodo/Glimt shared the spoils after an entertaining draw. At the same time, Inter Milan secured an important away win at Ajax, thanks to a superb brace from Marcus Thuram.

From last-minute winners to statement victories, Matchday 2 proved once again why the Champions League is the pinnacle of European football.
