A Cyclist’s Journey of Gratitude: Wisdom Chisom Rides from Lagos to Abia to Thank Governor Otti
In an inspiring act of appreciation, a young Nigerian cyclist, Wisdom Chisom, has completed a remarkable journey from Lagos to Abia State — all on a bicycle. His mission? To personally thank Governor Alex Otti for bringing development to his hometown through the reconstruction of the 11.5-kilometre Nunya–Eluama Road and other impactful projects across the state.
Chisom, a native of Nunya in Isuikwuato Local Government Area, began his daring journey on a Monday morning in Lagos and arrived Abia after six days of continuous cycling. Upon reaching his destination on Saturday, he made his way to the Governor’s country home in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, to deliver his heartfelt message of gratitude.
During a brief meeting after the State Executive Council session, the cyclist shared his motivation with the Governor. He revealed that despite the risks of travelling such a long distance by bicycle — including safety concerns and poor road conditions — his admiration for the Governor’s leadership pushed him to take on the challenge.
“I wanted to show my appreciation to Governor Alex Otti for remembering my community with the road project and other developmental efforts across Abia. It was a risky journey, but I had to do it,”
— Wisdom Chisom said.
Governor Alex Otti, while receiving Chisom, praised the cyclist for his courage and sincerity. He expressed happiness over the positive impact of his administration’s projects, emphasizing that his top priority remains the welfare and happiness of Abia people.
The Governor also urged the young man to continue being a model citizen and assured that his government will not relent in delivering people-centered governance.
According to reports, the Governor learned about Chisom’s heroic journey through the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, who first brought the story to his attention.
Chisom’s bold act serves as a reminder that good leadership still inspires genuine gratitude and hope among Nigerians.
