The Delta State Police Command has apprehended a 52-year-old woman, Egbule Isioma, who is suspected of being a major drug dealer in Ughelli, Delta State.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, Isioma was arrested on August 29 when operatives of the Ughelli Area Command carried out a raid on criminal hideouts as part of their ongoing fight against illicit drug use and its damaging impact on the youth.
Isioma, who reportedly ran a chemist shop, was arrested alongside three of her apprentices — Mercy John, Favour John, and Amarachi Ngozi.
Following their arrest, police officers executed a search warrant at Isioma’s residence located at No. 31 Edile Street, Afisere, Ughelli, where a massive stash of illegal drugs was uncovered.
Items Recovered During the Raid Included:
-
355 bottles of CSC Codeine
-
57 rolls of 50mg Tramadol capsules
-
335 rolls of 100mg Tramadol capsules
-
33 rolls of 200mg Super Royal
-
7 packs of Backwoods
-
540 sachets of Swinol capsules
-
16 cups of Canadian liquid cannabis
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, revealed that investigations show Isioma is a major supplier of illicit drugs within Ughelli and its surrounding areas.
He added that the successful raid was made possible through credible intelligence linking Isioma and her associates to drug peddling in the Afisere/Ughelli axis.
This arrest highlights the ongoing efforts of the Delta State Police Command to combat drug abuse and trafficking, which continue to pose a serious threat to the well-being of young people and communities across the state.
