Residents of Tuomo community in Delta State have successfully rescued a kidnapped Army officer, identified as Major Josiah, from a forest hideout after a dramatic abduction.

    How the Kidnap Happened

According to local sources, the officer was abducted on Sunday night in Bomadi Local Government Area when armed youths invaded his lodge. The attackers reportedly ransacked his residence before whisking him away to the creeks of nearby Burutu Local Government Area.

    Rescue Efforts by Villagers

The turning point came when villagers discovered a suspicious abandoned vehicle in a forest area. Upon searching further, they found the kidnapped officer tied up inside a canoe, suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg and hand.

The locals quickly moved him to a nearby camp for initial safety before transporting him by canoe back to Tuomo community.

    Alerting the Authorities

Community members wasted no time in notifying the Joint Task Force (JTF) of the Nigerian Army. The task force swiftly responded, taking the injured officer into their care and ensuring his transfer to a safer location for medical attention.

    Awaiting Official Response

As of the time this report was filed, the Nigerian Army has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
