Dominic Calvert-Lewin Crowned Premier League Player of the Month for December 2025
Leeds United fans have a new hero, and his name is Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The striker’s incredible form has been rewarded with the Premier League Player of the Month award for December 2025.
This award is a huge moment for both the player and the club. Calvert-Lewin becomes the first Leeds United star to win this prize since Rio Ferdinand back in October 2001.
A Month of Decisive Goals
Calvert-Lewin was unstoppable in December. He played in five matches and scored in every single one, finding the net six times in total.
His goals were not just numbers; they were crucial points for Leeds. He scored in victories against Chelsea and Crystal Palace (where he got two goals). He also earned his team important draws by scoring equalisers against both Brentford and Sunderland.
Perhaps his most dramatic contribution was a penalty in the thrilling 3-3 draw with Liverpool, which sparked a fantastic Leeds comeback.
Making History for a Promoted Club
This is Calvert-Lewin’s second Player of the Month award. He first won it in September 2020 while playing for Everton. However, this latest win carries special significance.
He is the first player from a newly promoted club to claim the award since Teemu Pukki did it for Norwich City in August 2019. Interestingly, the manager of that Norwich team was Daniel Farke, who is now Calvert-Lewin’s head coach at Leeds United.
Beating a Strong Shortlist
The 28-year-old forward topped an eight-man shortlist to win the award. This list included some of the league’s top attackers like Erling Haaland, Ollie Watkins, and Hugo Ekitike. The winner was decided by combining votes from the public on the EA SPORTS website with the choices of a panel of football experts.
Since his move from Everton, Calvert-Lewin has been instrumental in helping Leeds United find their best form in the Premier League. This award confirms his status as one of the league’s most in-form players and a key reason for Leeds’ success this season.
