Veteran Nigerian actress and media personality, Doyin Kukoyi, has finally spoken out about long-standing rumors suggesting she secretly married popular Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo.
The speculation first surfaced in 2022 when photos of the duo dressed in matching traditional attire went viral on social media. Kukoyi herself fueled the buzz after sharing the pictures on Instagram, complete with heart-shaped emojis — which many fans interpreted as confirmation of a real-life romance.
This led to widespread claims that Kukoyi had unveiled Ogogo as her husband, sparking talks that she had become his third wife.
However, in a recent chat on the Nollywood on Radio podcast, the actress set the record straight. According to her, the pictures were nothing more than a promotional strategy for a movie where she and Ogogo played husband and wife.
“I realised that people will always talk about what you put online. I didn’t correct the misconception because I wanted to sell the film,” she explained.
Kukoyi went on to reveal that she is happily married in real life and blessed with three children. Despite the gossip, she admitted she was never offended by the rumors and even finds them amusing.
“People still stop me on the street to ask, ‘How is your husband?’ and I just laugh and reply, ‘He is fine,’” she added.
The actress stressed that public perception is often shaped by what celebrities share online, reminding fans that not everything posted on social media reflects reality.
