Rivers United may have secured a 1-0 victory over Shooting Stars on Sunday, but head coach Finidi George was far from impressed with his team’s overall display.
The Pride of Rivers clinched the win at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, keeping their unbeaten run in the NPFL intact. However, Finidi admitted after the match that his side struggled to impose themselves throughout the game.
“I am not quite happy, I have to be honest. We are too much in a hurry and made too many mistakes. At no point did I see my team in total control,” the Rivers United boss said in his post-match interview.
While the three points lifted Rivers United to eight points from four matches, Finidi was quick to acknowledge that improvements are needed if they are to remain competitive this season.
The former Super Eagles winger assured fans that the team will continue working hard to correct the lapses seen against Shooting Stars, promising a stronger display in upcoming fixtures.
Despite the criticisms, Rivers United remain unbeaten in the NPFL this season—an encouraging sign for supporters who believe the team can challenge for the title.
