The Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi-Abubakar, has issued a strong warning to youths in the state to steer clear of cybercrime, stressing that those caught risk a minimum of four years in prison.

Justice Danladi-Abubakar gave the warning on Wednesday in Katsina during the graduation ceremony of 75 young participants who successfully completed a three-day training on the positive use of mobile phones. The program was organized by the Katsina Vocational Training Centre to equip youths with digital skills that can be used productively.

The Chief Judge noted that cybercrime cases are easily proven in court since evidence is straightforward and requires little defence. He urged the youths to apply the knowledge they gained during the training, not only for personal growth but also to impact their communities positively.

“This training is a golden opportunity. I urge you to apply the knowledge gained and extend it to your communities,” Justice Danladi-Abubakar advised.

He further encouraged youths to use mobile phones responsibly—for business, education, and knowledge acquisition—instead of engaging in fraudulent online activities.

The message serves as a reminder that while mobile technology is a powerful tool, misusing it for criminal purposes comes with serious consequences.
