Kelechi Iheanacho Signs for Celtic After Leaving Sevilla
Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has officially signed for Celtic as a free agent, following the termination of his contract with Sevilla.
The 28-year-old Nigerian striker became available on transfer deadline day after mutually parting ways with the Spanish side. Celtic, who were in competition with two other European clubs, successfully secured his signature on a one-year deal.
Iheanacho’s move sees him reunite with Brendan Rodgers, his former coach at Leicester City. Rodgers expressed confidence in the signing, stating that Iheanacho’s experience and attacking quality will make a “big contribution” to the Scottish champions this season.
The signing comes as a direct replacement for Adam Idah, who has completed a move to Swansea City.
Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla in the summer of last year, spent the latter part of the season on loan at Middlesbrough in the English Championship. Despite limited opportunities in Spain, his proven record in the Premier League and international football made him a prime target for Celtic.
With this move, the Nigerian forward is set for a fresh chapter in his career and will be aiming to help Celtic maintain their dominance in Scottish football while also competing in Europe.
