The head coach of Lesotho’s national football team, Leslie Notsi, has spoken highly of Nigeria’s Super Eagles and their manager, Eric Chelle, following their hard-fought encounter in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers held in Polokwane, South Africa.

Although Nigeria emerged victorious with a 2–1 win—thanks to second-half goals from William Troost-Ekong and Akor Adams—Coach Notsi focused less on the loss and more on the positive feedback he received from the Nigerian side.

In his post-match remarks, Notsi revealed that Nigeria’s coach took the time to commend Lesotho’s discipline, tactical awareness, and determination on the field.

“Coach Chelle told me after the match that we have a good team—very competitive, organized, and disciplined,” Notsi shared with reporters. “Coming from a nation like Nigeria, with a rich football history and several World Cup appearances, such words mean a lot to us.”

Notsi went on to explain that this recognition serves as motivation for both him and his players.

“It’s humbling to hear that from such a respected coach. I’ll definitely share it with my team so they understand that our efforts are being noticed. But we must remain focused and keep working even harder,” he added.

Lesotho may not have secured the three points, but they earned something just as valuable—respect from one of Africa’s football powerhouses. For Notsi, that acknowledgment fuels their determination to grow stronger and continue challenging bigger teams on the continent.
