Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has openly admitted that Liverpool are the frontrunners for the Premier League title this season, following their stunning record-breaking signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.
The Gunners narrowly missed out on the title last season, finishing behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool. But the Reds have strengthened even further, sealing a £125 million deadline-day deal for the Swedish striker — a move that now stands as the most expensive transfer in British football history.
Speaking during his Friday press conference, Arteta acknowledged the massive impact Isak brings to Liverpool’s squad.
“Well, they are the strongest for sure,” Arteta told reporters.
“They have recruited probably the two most decisive players in Europe available in the market. They’ve done really well to secure them. They are very strong. But we need to focus on ourselves, on improving our game, and finding ways to be better than them.”
Liverpool’s aggressive recruitment drive has placed them at the top of bookmakers’ predictions for the 2025 Premier League title. Meanwhile, Arsenal will be looking to push even harder this campaign, as Arteta continues to build a side capable of going toe-to-toe with the Reds.
