The Nigerian Army has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against insecurity in Plateau State. Troops under Operation ENDURING PEACE successfully arrested suspected cattle rustlers and recovered a cache of weapons during a raid.

According to a statement by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, the operation was carried out at Kogul Village in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

    During the raid, troops recovered:

    • 1 AK-47 rifle

    • 1 AK-47 magazine

    • 1 locally fabricated revolver rifle

    • 10 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition

    • 1 mobile phone

    • An undisclosed sum of cash

The suspects were immediately taken into custody, and further investigations are ongoing.

Major Zhakom emphasized that this action is part of the military’s commitment to ending cattle rustling — a menace that has fueled violent clashes in Plateau State and neighboring regions. He added that follow-up operations are underway to track down other members of the criminal network.

The Nigerian Army assured citizens of its determination to restore peace and security across Plateau State, urging locals to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information.
