The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State has announced the relocation of its orientation camp from Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area to Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
This development follows rising security concerns in communities across Edu and Patigi local government areas, where recent bandit activities have created unrest and heightened risks.
Confirming the move, NYSC Kwara State Coordinator, Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, explained that the decision was approved by the state government after thorough consideration of safety reports.
According to him, the temporary relocation was necessary to protect the lives of corps members and ensure that the mandatory three-week orientation exercise is conducted in a secure environment.
“We are fully prepared to host the orientation course, and every corps member’s welfare will be safeguarded,” Onifade assured.
He further revealed that soldiers and other security operatives will be deployed throughout the exercise to maintain peace and order at the new venue.
The coordinator also confirmed that corps members are expected to report for the orientation between September 24 and October 14, 2025. In addition, a delegation from the NYSC headquarters will be visiting Ilorin to inspect the facilities at the temporary site.
This relocation underscores the commitment of NYSC and the Kwara State Government to prioritize the security of corps members while ensuring the smooth continuation of the national service program.
