The Ogun State Government has once again emphasized its strong commitment to providing free, quality, and standardized education for pupils across all public primary schools in the state.

This was made known by the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, during a sensitization campaign held in the Ogun East senatorial district.

According to Arigbabu, the exercise aims to address the challenge of out-of-school children by creating awareness among parents and guardians about the government’s free education program.

“We are sensitizing parents to register their school-age children into public primary schools free of charge. Nursery sessions are also available for children from age three, with qualified teachers and a conducive learning environment,” he explained.

    Seamless Enrolment Process

The commissioner assured parents that the state has put in place all necessary procedures for a smooth registration process. He encouraged parents to make use of the free enrolment opportunity, available daily from 9 am within the stipulated registration period.

Arigbabu was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, and other top officials during the outreach program.

    Governor’s Broader Commitment

While praising the governor’s leadership, Arigbabu also highlighted Ogun State’s continued investment not only in education but also in other key sectors, including health, transportation, agriculture, and infrastructure.

    Parents and Market Leaders Applaud

The sensitization campaign was well-received by community leaders. Market leaders from different communities—Mrs. Wuraola Kuforiji (Iyaloja of Oba Sikiru Adetona Market, Oke-Aje), Mrs. Oloruntedo Ogunba (Iyaloja of Olabisi Onabanjo Market, Ita-Osu), Mrs. Idowu Haruna (Iyaloja of Sabo, Sagamu), and Mrs. Esther Osilesi (Iyaloja of Awolowo Market, Sagamu)—all commended the initiative.

They praised the commissioner and his team for their passion and consistency in ensuring that every child of school age has access to quality education.

    Jamflash Insight:
Education remains a fundamental right, and this initiative by Ogun State reinforces the importance of reducing the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria. By making registration free and easily accessible, the government is taking a firm step toward building a brighter future for the next generation.
