In the Nigerian music scene, few stories have stirred as much conversation as the long-standing rift between the iconic twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square. Now, Obumneme Ali, better known as Smash from the music duo Bracket, has shared a perspective that adds a spiritual twist to the matter.

During a recent appearance on the AFRIMMA Podcast, alongside his partner Vast, Smash suggested that the lingering feud between the Okoye brothers may not be entirely ordinary. According to him, it carries a spiritual undertone.

“I’m closer to Paul than Peter, but I also spend time with Peter, and he listens whenever I talk to him,” Smash explained. “From my position as an insider, I believe the problem is spiritual. The last time I spoke with Paul, I told him what’s happening between him and his brother isn’t normal—it’s deeper than what we see. He actually agreed with me.”

Smash went on to highlight how heartbreaking it has been to witness the fallout, especially considering how united the brothers once were. He recalled how passionately Peter, Paul, and their elder brother Jude invested in building the P-Square brand, which became one of Africa’s most successful music exports.

For many fans, P-Square represented not just music but also a story of family, resilience, and global recognition. The idea that their division could be rooted in something beyond human control makes the saga even more unsettling.

Whether or not spirituality truly plays a role, one thing is clear: the P-Square feud remains one of the most talked-about topics in Nigerian entertainment, and fans continue to hope for a lasting reconciliation.
