Each year, cyclists depart Memphis on a long, emotionally driven ride toward Rosemary Beach, Florida, covering over 500 miles. Their mission is more than a physical challenge — it’s a moving tribute and fundraiser for the West Cancer Foundation.
One of the founders, Chuck Bolton, has personal stakes in this ride. He’s lost loved ones to cancer, and his wife is a survivor. On Sunday, Vernon was the midday stop. The cyclists were welcomed by local officials and residents, and Vernon’s City Clerk Don Dollar expressed gratitude for their mission:
“Every family has cancer somewhere, somehow.”
