Former Minister of Sports and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Solomon Dalung, has dismissed speculations that the ADC is merely an association, stressing that it remains a legally recognized political party in Nigeria.
Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Dalung explained that the party, which has been active for more than 19 years, is currently undergoing a major transition process. This transition involves bringing in coalition partners and restructuring the party to strengthen its political foundation.
According to him, the process is well-documented and includes transferring new leadership signatures to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He noted that once INEC completes its formal procedures, the party will fully emerge from this transitional stage.

Dalung emphasized that the ADC is committed to upholding the rule of law and has no reason to panic about the ongoing changes.
“The ADC and the coalition movement are out to rescue the country. They cannot afford not to comply with the requirements of law, because injustice, impunity, and lack of internal democracy were the things that had jeopardized our democracy,” Dalung said.
He reassured party supporters that there is “no cause for alarm”, stressing that the restructuring process is on course and that the ADC remains firmly positioned as a key player in Nigeria’s political space.
