The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the death of four people following a tragic incident on the Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway, near Mabushi underbridge, Abuja.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Josephine Adeh, the fatal crash happened after three suspected hoodlums, popularly known as agberos, forcefully entered a moving vehicle.

The vehicle involved was a grey Toyota Highlander (registration number ABJ 206 EC), driven by Emeka Ehekweme, who was traveling with his wife. The suspects reportedly attacked the couple near Berger Junction, Utako, and in the ensuing struggle for control of the steering, the SUV lost balance.

The car collided with a parked Mazda before somersaulting and crashing into a bridge pillar.

Sadly, the driver (Mr. Ehekweme), his wife, and two of the suspects were confirmed dead upon arrival at the National Hospital, Abuja. Another suspect survived the crash and is currently receiving treatment, while the driver of the parked Mazda, identified as Suleman Mohammed, escaped with no life-threatening injuries.

The police spokesperson further assured the public that investigations are ongoing to unravel the full details of the incident, promising to provide updates as events unfold.
