On Sunday afternoon, tragedy struck Unguwar Kade village in the Mada district of Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State, when armed bandits stormed the community, opening fire on residents.
The violent attack, which occurred around 3:00 p.m., claimed the lives of three people, while three others sustained injuries. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared details of the incident on X (formerly Twitter), the attackers fled the scene immediately after unleashing terror on the villagers.
Following the incident, a joint security team comprising military personnel and local hunters was quickly deployed. However, the armed men had already escaped before reinforcements arrived.
The victims were promptly taken to the hospital—where the deceased were prepared for autopsy and the injured received urgent treatment.
Authorities confirmed that security patrols in the area have been reinforced to curb further violence, while an active investigation is ongoing to track down the perpetrators behind this attack.
This latest assault adds to the growing insecurity challenges faced by rural communities in Zamfara State, a region that has suffered frequent banditry attacks in recent years.
