Two African giants have officially booked their tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

On Monday night, Tunisia became the second African nation to qualify after pulling off a dramatic 1-0 victory against Equatorial Guinea.

The Carthage Eagles went into the game knowing only a win would guarantee their qualification. Sitting seven points clear of Namibia before kickoff, they held their nerves until the dying moments. Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane delivered the decisive strike in stoppage time, sparking wild celebrations as Tunisia punched their ticket to the biggest football stage.

They now join Morocco, who had already sealed their qualification earlier. The Atlas Lions, fresh off their incredible run at the 2022 World Cup, made sure to underline their dominance with a convincing 2-0 win over Zambia last weekend. Their flawless run in the qualifiers has made them one of the continent’s strongest contenders heading into 2026.

With Tunisia and Morocco through, the spotlight now shifts to the rest of Africa’s hopefuls battling for a chance to feature in the expanded World Cup format.

The road to 2026 is heating up, and African football fans can expect more thrilling moments as the qualifiers continue.
