Ex-Nigerian international Victor Ikpeba has expressed concern over what he believes to be the Super Eagles’ biggest challenge ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

According to Ikpeba, the constant change of managers in the Nigerian national team setup has disrupted the team’s rhythm and stability.
“We have a new manager. The biggest problem is that we have changed too many managers,” Ikpeba told PrimeSports with Mahlatse.
“We had one for the first two games, and then another for the next two. It doesn’t really help the stability of the team. The continuity just isn’t there.”
In recent months, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has made several managerial switches. After parting ways with Jose Peseiro, the federation appointed Finidi George as head coach. However, Finidi was later dismissed, and Augustine Eguavoen stepped in as caretaker manager before being replaced by Eric Chelle.
For Ikpeba, such instability has hindered the Super Eagles from building the consistency and tactical identity needed to succeed at international level. With the crucial clash against South Africa approaching, many Nigerians will be hoping that the current setup can bring the team the stability it desperately needs.
