A tragic incident has left a young farmer in Tse-Iordye, Ndzorov Council Ward, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State fighting for his life after being brutally attacked by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen.
According to reports, the farmer was working on his farmland when the attackers struck, leaving him with life-threatening injuries. Eyewitnesses confirmed that he lost one of his fingers to amputation, sustained deep arm cuts that severed veins, and suffered multiple head wounds.
Medical officials currently attending to him disclosed that his condition remains extremely critical, with survival chances rated at “50-50.”
The victim was first rushed to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Gbajimba before being transferred to a nearby hospital, where doctors are working tirelessly to stabilize his condition.
This latest attack has once again sparked outrage among residents, who are urging both the Benue State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria to step in decisively and bring an end to the recurring violence in the region.
Over the past years, Guma and other rural communities in Benue have witnessed a series of deadly clashes that have claimed countless lives, destroyed farmland, and displaced thousands of residents. Locals fear that without urgent intervention, farming and rural livelihood in the state may continue to decline.
